Dr Lee Shau Kee donates HK50M for Belt and Road Resources Centre

Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong is pleased to announce that the Lee Shau Kee Foundation has generously donated HK$50 million for the establishment of a new Belt & Road learning and resources centre at the College. LPCUWC Board Chairman, Mr Anthony Tong, and Dr Lee Shau Kee, Chairman and Managing Director of Henderson Land Development Company Limited, met yesterday to officially sign the donation agreement.

The centre is scheduled to open in autumn 2019, and forms part of a larger strategic plan that LPCUWC is developing. The College’s vision for the centre will allow a greater number of young students, including the external and international community, to experience the UWC Movement in action, through short programmes, interactive workshops, and diverse cultural exchanges.

A further fund of HK$30 million from other donors was also received, for refurbishing and maintaining existing infrastructure on campus, as well as investing in updated equipment and teaching resources. The College is extremely thankful for these generous contributions, which will help us to focus on continuing to raise more money for student scholarships.
